Dr Alex Hassett joined Salomons in 2003 as the project Manager of a multi-agency child and adolescent mental health training and development project. The project's focus is on finding new, innovative ways of training and developing those service providers, across both statutory and non-statutory bodies who work with children and young people, so that they are able to care for the emotional well-being and mental health of these young people.  He has a keen interest in community development and empowerment and worked for 10 years prior to this position with disadvantaged communities in South Africa.  His other interests include work on diversity and multiculturalism.  He has two master degrees, one in Research Psychology and the other in Educational psychology.  In 2007 he completed his PhD in Psychology, which focused on community empowerment and its applicability to school development.
