Adult Protection Network
Adult protection
is emerging as a new area of expertise in social care services. The term is being used to describe the
responsibilities of relevant agencies in relation to cases
involving abuse of older people, people with learning disabilities
or mental health problems and some disabled people. Salomons is emerging as a Centre
of Excellence in relation to Adult Protection Training and
Consultancy. Professor Hilary Brown was involved in the
drafting and publication of "No secrets" and the Welsh Assembly's "In
Safe Hands", which sets out the government's expectations
for management and practice in relation to adult protection
services, highlighting: the skilful and sensitive handling
of investigations, the importance of multi-agency working
and the development of appropriate local networks and shared
expertise.
