Clinical
Psychology
Post-Qualification Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
The Post Qualification Programme admitted its
final intake of students in April 2002. At present, it is
not planned to admit any further students onto the Programme.
The information below, therefore, relates to how the Programme
was organized up to 2002.
There is widespread recognition within Clinical
Psychology of the need for an award that allows clinical psychologists,
who completed their training prior to pre-qualification training
courses awarding Practitioner Doctorates, to re-grade their
current qualification to Doctoral status. The challenge for
post- qualification programmes is how best to meet the real
developmental needs of both experienced practitioners and
the services in which they work. The information on this site
outlines details of the way in which Salomons has attempted
to respond to those needs in a relevant and integrated fashion.
There have been six intakes (cohorts) to the Programme so
far, with a total of 76 people having been enrolled.
The Doctoral Programme is awarded by Canterbury
Christ Church University (CCCU) and integrates high
academic standards with long established strengths as demonstrated
in the Pre-Qualification Programme, but to do so in a way
which is relevant and appropriate for service practitioners
already contributing to service provision. It is aimed at
providing an appropriate structure for promoting and individual's
continuing professional development.
